Samaria was the capital of Ahab’s northern kingdom, where the Lord sent Elijah to confront the king after the drought. Mount Carmel, near the Kishon Valley and overlooking the route toward Jezreel, became the setting for Elijah’s contest with Baal’s prophets and the vindication of the Lord.
