It happened, when Jezebel heard that Naboth was stoned, and was dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab, Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give you for money; for Naboth is not alive, but dead.

Jezreel was a royal city in the northern kingdom of Israel, where Naboth’s vineyard lay beside Ahab’s palace and where his judicial murder enabled Ahab to seize it. Samaria, Israel’s capital, was the center of Ahab and Jezebel’s rule, from which their corrupt authority extended to Jezreel.
