The City of David in Jerusalem was the royal stronghold where Solomon housed Pharaoh’s daughter, linking Judah’s capital with his Egyptian alliance. Gibeon, a major Israelite worship center northwest of Jerusalem, held the principal high place where Solomon sacrificed before the temple was built.
