Asia, Bithynia, Cappadocia, Galatia, and Pontus were regions of northern and western Asia Minor, in present-day Turkey, containing scattered Christian communities. Peter’s readers, though dispersed among these provinces, are addressed as one people whose purified obedience to the truth should produce sincere brotherly love.
