Bethlehem, a town in Judah about six miles south of Jerusalem, was David’s home and the place where Samuel had anointed him king. Though not named in this verse, it matters because Saul’s servants had summoned the Bethlehemite David to court, where his harp playing brought relief from Saul’s troubling spirit.
