Dan marked Israel’s northern extent and Beersheba its southern boundary, so “from Dan to Beersheba” means all Israel recognized Samuel as the LORD’s established prophet. Shiloh, in the central hill country, was the sanctuary site where the LORD revealed himself to Samuel and from which his prophetic ministry became known.
