Ben-hadad of Syria, ruling from Damascus, struck Israelite towns from Ijon and Dan in the far north through Abel-beth-maacah, while Ramah, Geba, Mizpah, and the City of David lay in Judah’s central region. These attacks forced Baasha to abandon Ramah’s blockade of Asa’s kingdom.
