Ramoth-gilead was an Israelite city east of the Jordan, strategically contested with Syria (Aram); Ahab sought to retake it, prompting Micaiah’s warning. Samaria, Ahab’s capital in the northern kingdom of Israel, was where he and Jehoshaphat planned the campaign.
