In Jerusalem, Hezekiah gathered the Levites in the east square near the temple and charged them to cleanse the holy place, the sanctuary defiled under Ahaz. The Kidron Valley, east of the city, received the uncleanness removed from the temple, underscoring the orderly restoration of covenant worship.
