Then Solomon began to build the house of Yahweh at Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where [Yahweh] appeared to David his father, which he made ready in the place that David had appointed, in the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

Jerusalem was Israel’s capital, where Solomon built the temple as the central place of worship. Mount Moriah, identified with the temple site and associated with David’s altar, marks the Most Holy Place as the temple’s innermost sanctuary, where God’s covenant presence was uniquely signified.
