Nevertheless Josiah would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself, that he might fight with him, and didn't listen to the words of Neco from the mouth of God, and came to fight in the valley of Megiddo.

Carchemish was a strategic city on the Euphrates in northern Syria, where Egypt’s Pharaoh Neco was marching to fight; Megiddo, in northern Israel, was where Josiah intercepted him. Jerusalem and the Holy Place mark Judah’s covenant center, from which Josiah unwisely went out despite Neco’s warning.
