Bethel, Jericho, and the Jordan mark Elisha’s early prophetic journey after Elijah’s departure, while Mount Carmel recalls Elijah’s contest against Baal and becomes Elisha’s destination. Samaria, Israel’s capital, was the center of the northern kingdom whose covenant unfaithfulness made prophetic ministry necessary.
