Shunem was a village in the tribal territory of Issachar, near Mount Moreh in the Jezreel Valley, where a wealthy woman regularly hosted Elisha. Mount Carmel, west of Shunem near the Mediterranean, was one of Elisha’s usual places of ministry and later becomes the destination from which the Shunammite seeks him.
