Mount Carmel, a prominent ridge near the Mediterranean in northern Israel, was associated with Elisha’s prophetic ministry and became the place the Shunammite sought for help. Shunem was a village in the Jezreel Valley, where her son had died and where Elisha had previously shown her hospitality and God’s provision.
