Mount Carmel, west of the Jordan near the Mediterranean, was associated with Elisha’s ministry and served as a place from which he returned to Gilgal during a famine. Shunem, a village in the Jezreel Valley near Carmel, was home to the hospitable woman whose family later sought Elisha’s help.
