Aram (Syria), with Damascus as its capital, was Naaman’s homeland; Abana and Pharpar were rivers near Damascus that he had preferred to the Jordan. Samaria was Israel’s capital, and the Jordan was where God healed Naaman, making Gehazi’s greed especially grievous.
