Caesarea, the Roman administrative center on the Mediterranean coast, was where Cornelius received the angelic instruction to send for Peter in Joppa, a coastal town south of Caesarea. Galilee, Jerusalem, Judea, and Nazareth locate the wider setting of Jesus’ ministry and the gospel’s movement from Jewish centers toward Gentiles.
