Antioch in Syria became a key center for Gentile evangelism when believers scattered from Jerusalem preached there. Cyprus and Cyrene were the homelands of some of these missionaries, while Judea, Phoenicia, Caesarea, Joppa, and Tarsus mark the wider region through which the gospel spread after persecution.
