Antioch in Syria became the church’s missionary base, while Jerusalem and Judea were facing famine relief needs. Cyprus, Cyrene, Phoenicia, Caesarea, Joppa, and Tarsus mark the wider Mediterranean network through which the gospel had spread, linking Antioch’s Gentile believers to the Jerusalem elders.
