Amphipolis and Apollonia were Macedonian stops on Paul and Silas’s route to Thessalonica; Berea followed, while Athens was the Greek city where Paul addressed philosophers at the Areopagus. There he proclaimed the Creator’s nearness and humanity’s dependence on God, citing Greek poets to call idolaters to repentance.
