Acts 27:35

When he had said this, and had taken bread, he gave thanks to God in the presence of all, and he broke it, and began to eat.

These Mediterranean locations trace Paul’s storm-battered voyage as a prisoner from Caesarea toward Italy: ships from Adramyttium and Alexandria sailed past Cyprus, Asia Minor, Crete, and the Adriatic before wrecking near Malta. In this setting, Paul’s giving thanks and breaking bread encouraged the endangered crew amid God’s providential preservation.
