On Paul’s voyage to Rome, the party traveled from Malta through Sicilian and Italian ports, including Syracuse, Rhegium, and Puteoli; Alexandrian grain ships commonly served this route. At the Forum of Appius and Three Taverns, Roman Christians came out to meet Paul, encouraging him as he approached Rome under custody for his witness concerning Christ.
