Babylon, the capital of the Chaldean (Neo-Babylonian) empire in Mesopotamia, was where Belshazzar was killed as God’s judgment brought that kingdom to its end. Jerusalem mattered because its temple vessels, taken from there, had been profaned at Belshazzar’s feast.
