They took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came to the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt.

Elim was an oasis in the wilderness where Israel had recently camped after leaving Egypt, the land of their slavery. Canaan was the promised destination ahead, so their departure from Elim marks a wilderness stage between deliverance from Egypt and entry into God’s promised land.
