Egypt was the kingdom ruled by Pharaoh along the Nile in northeastern Africa, where the Israelites were living under forced labor. In this exchange, Pharaoh treats their large population as a threat to Egypt’s labor supply and rejects Moses and Aaron’s request that they cease work to worship the LORD.
