Egypt was the land ruled by Pharaoh where Moses and Aaron obeyed God’s command to confront him on behalf of Israel. The Nile, Egypt’s vital river and source of agricultural life, would soon become a central setting for God’s judgments demonstrating his authority over Pharaoh and Egypt’s gods.
