Egypt was the land ruled by Pharaoh, where Israel lived, especially in the region of Goshen in the eastern Nile delta. The Nile, Egypt’s vital river and source of life, was central to the plague’s significance: frogs would overflow from its waters, displaying the Lord’s power over Egypt’s land and gods.
