Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I am against your pillows, with which you there hunt the souls to make [them] fly, and I will tear them from your arms; and I will let the souls go, even the souls who you hunt to make [them] fly.

Jerusalem, Judah’s capital and the center of temple worship, was the community addressed by Ezekiel’s prophetic ministry despite his exile in Babylon. Though not named in verse 20 itself, its threatened inhabitants were being misled by false prophetesses, whose practices God condemns and promises to expose.
