Babylon was the Mesopotamian empire that deported Judah’s king and nobles; Jerusalem in Canaan was Judah’s capital, while Lebanon supplied the cedar imagery for its royal house. Egypt was the foreign power Judah sought for help, but Ezekiel’s parable shows that God would judge this faithlessness and restore the Davidic line by his own sovereign action.
