Egypt was the land of Israel’s slavery and the setting of God’s mighty deliverance; in this passage, Israel’s rebellion there threatened to profane God’s name among the nations. The Negeb, the arid southern region of Canaan, is not mentioned in Ezekiel 20:14 itself.
