Jerusalem in Judea was the site of the restored temple, whose rebuilding Zerubbabel and Jeshua resumed under prophetic encouragement. The project concerned Persian officials because Judea lay in the imperial province “Beyond the River,” west of the Euphrates, while the returned exiles had come from Babylon/Babylonia.
