Ahava was a gathering place, likely by a canal in Babylonia, where Ezra organized exiles for the journey to Jerusalem in Beyond the River, the Persian province west of the Euphrates. Casiphia, apparently a nearby settlement with temple servants, supplied Levites for the returning community.
