God heard the voice of the boy. The angel of God called to Hagar out of the sky, and said to her, "What ails you, Hagar? Don't be afraid. For God has heard the voice of the boy where he is.

Egypt was Hagar’s homeland, making it significant that God later directs her toward a place connected with her past. The wilderness of Paran, in the Sinai region northeast of Egypt, became Ishmael’s home after God heard his cry and preserved him and Hagar in the desert.
