Paran was a wilderness region in the Sinai peninsula, where Ishmael grew up after Hagar and Ishmael were sent away from Abraham’s household. Egypt, Hagar’s homeland, supplied Ishmael’s wife, linking his family to Egypt while God fulfilled his promise to make Ishmael a great nation.
