In the succession of Edomite kings, Hadad’s victory over Midian occurred in the land of Moab, east of Canaan; he ruled from Avith, while Bozrah and Masrekah were other Edomite royal centers. Edom, centered on Mount Seir south of Moab, descended from Esau and stood alongside Israel’s covenant history.
