Egypt was the land where Joseph had been sold into slavery and served in Potiphar’s household. Its royal prison, where the king’s prisoners were confined, becomes the setting of Joseph’s unjust imprisonment and the means by which God’s providence advances his later role in Pharaoh’s court.
