Egypt was the kingdom over which Pharaoh ruled, and its Nile-fed agriculture made large-scale grain storage possible during the predicted years of abundance. Heliopolis, a major Egyptian city associated with the sun god, is not named in the verse itself but was near the administrative setting of Joseph’s later authority.
