Egypt was the land ruled by Pharaoh where Joseph’s God-given administration had stored grain during the seven plentiful years. Heliopolis, likely associated with Joseph’s marriage into an Egyptian priestly family, and the Nile, Egypt’s life-sustaining river, form the broader setting in which this abundance and coming famine unfolded.
