Then came Isaiah the prophet to king Hezekiah, and said to him, What said these men? and from whence came they to you? Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country to me, even from Babylon.

Babylon was the powerful Mesopotamian city-state on the Euphrates River, east of Judah, whose envoys visited Hezekiah after his recovery. Their presence exposed Hezekiah’s pride in displaying Judah’s treasures and foreshadowed Babylon’s later conquest and exile of Judah.
