Jeremiah 14:14

Bible Text

Then Yahweh said to me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name; I didn't send them, neither have I commanded them, neither spoke I to them: they prophesy to you a lying vision, and divination, and a thing of nothing, and the deceit of their own heart.

Jerusalem was Judah’s capital, with Zion referring especially to its temple hill and, by extension, the city as God’s covenant center. In this context, false prophets speak within the community that should know the Lord, yet their messages of peace contradict his coming judgment.
