Jeremiah 19:11

and shall tell them, Thus says Yahweh of Hosts: Even so will I break this people and this city, as one breaks a potter's vessel, that can't be made whole again; and they shall bury in Topheth, until there be no place to bury.

Jeremiah performed his broken-pot sign near Jerusalem’s Potsherd Gate, likely by the Valley of Hinnom south of the city, where Topheth was a notorious site of child sacrifice. The setting underscores God’s judgment: Jerusalem would be shattered because its people had defiled the land through idolatry and bloodshed.
