Jeremiah 19:12

Thus will I do to this place, says Yahweh, and to the inhabitants of it, even making this city as Topheth:

Jerusalem was Judah’s capital; the Potsherd Gate likely opened toward the Valley of Hinnom, where Topheth was a site associated with child sacrifice. Jeremiah’s enacted prophecy there declares that God will judge Jerusalem by making the valley a place of slaughter and defilement.
