Jeremiah 24:1

Yahweh shown me, and, behold, two baskets of figs set before the temple of Yahweh, after that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, with the craftsmen and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon.

Jerusalem was Judah’s capital, from which Babylonian forces had already deported King Jeconiah and leading citizens to Babylon, the imperial center of Chaldea in Mesopotamia. Egypt, Judah’s southwestern neighbor, represented an alternative political refuge, but Jeremiah’s vision concerns those removed from Jerusalem under Babylon’s rule.
