Jerusalem’s fleeing king was captured near Jericho in the Arabah, the Jordan Rift Valley, then taken north to Riblah in Hamath, where Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon held his military headquarters. Babylon, capital of Chaldea, thus exercised judgment over Judah after Jerusalem’s fall.
