The Sea of Galilee (also called the Sea of Tiberias) was the freshwater lake in northern Galilee where several disciples returned to fishing after Jesus’ resurrection. Cana, a village in Galilee and Nathanael’s hometown, identifies one of those present and locates the scene within Jesus’ familiar ministry region.
