Jephthah recounts Israel’s journey from Egypt through the wilderness near Edom, Moab, Kadesh-barnea, and the Red Sea to the Transjordan lands between the Arnon, Jabbok, and Jordan. Gilead, including Aroer and Minnith, had been taken from Amorites, not Ammonites, supporting Israel’s claim against Ammon.
