Mahaneh-dan (“camp of Dan”) was a site in the territory of Dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol, near Samson’s home region in the Shephelah west of Jerusalem. Here the Spirit of the LORD began to stir Samson, marking the beginning of his divinely appointed role against Philistine oppression.
