It happened, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make us sport. They called for Samson out of the prison-house; and he made sport before them. They set him between the pillars:

Gaza was a major Philistine city on the coastal plain, where Samson was brought to entertain the Philistine rulers. Hebron lay inland in Judah, while the Valley of Sorek and Zorah marked Samson’s home region near the Philistine border, highlighting the contrast between his calling and captivity.
