Jerusalem was the city centered on the temple, while Judea was the surrounding Jewish region; the Mount of Olives lay just east of Jerusalem. In Jesus’ warning of coming judgment, those in Judea were to flee to the mountains and those in Jerusalem to escape rather than seek refuge in the city.
