Jerusalem was the city where Jesus was observing Passover and where his arrest and crucifixion would soon occur. The Mount of Olives, just east of the city across the Kidron Valley, was a familiar place of prayer for Jesus; there he withdrew with his disciples in obedience to the Father’s saving purpose.
